My washing machine keeps filling with water, even when it’s turned off

If the drain hose from the washer is connected to the ‘u’ bend of the sink, water could be running into the machine from the sink plughole. To check this, turn on the sink taps and see if water is running into the machine. If it is, the drain hose will need to be moved to stop it happening.

If this makes no difference, it could be a fault with a water valve in the appliance- time to call for a hero.
